An occurrence of medical negligence can affect your physical health, mental health and your financial security. Where this occurs, pursuing a compensation claim is often the only path available in order to rectify the situation as much as is possible.

We must point out, at this point, that L A Steel Solicitors are not in a position to take on any legal aid work relating to medical negligence claims. The reason for this is that if you are entitled to legal aid, you would be able to get a solicitor or an expert opinion free of charge. Have a look in your area for solicitors that take on legal aid cases.

If you are not looking for legal aid or you don't qualify for it and you would like us to assess your claim validity, we do have to ask that you obtain a medical report from an expert who would be in a position to deliberate the issue of negligence and give appropriate advice based on the results of the report. You would need to pay for this report yourself and the cost of this report tends to range from £500.00 to approximately £1000.00. Even though you have paid for and obtained a medical report, this does not mean that the findings will be helpful to your case. If the report opinion is deemed helpful, we would then consider taking on your claim, charging you nothing at all, win or lose. We can arrange insurance for you, if you wish, to protect you against paying the other side's costs should you lose. There will be no deduction from your compensation. There will be no hidden extras.
